Car number plate?
Recently i have been looking for a private car number plate for my vehicle. I have come across a number plate “ HU54 SAD”
I was just wondering would i be able to space the 4 and make it “HU5 4SAD”
Would it be legal if i slightly left a space and moved it? Would it be a problem?
Thanks!

Letters on a registration/number plate have to be a minimum size and have minimum spacing. It won't matter too much if you have a small gap; the cops would probably find it not worth the paperwork. They tend to dislike letters that are too close together or too small (because they can't be read easily when they take your picture). When you have your shiny new plates, try not to drive like a d!ck. Distinctive plates that spell cool words or slogans are easy for people to remember when they want to report you. Ask me how I know.

It’s not legal, and it can get you stopped by police if they’re looking for any excuse to pull you over.
Whilst I don’t wish to encourage you to use puerile vanity to muck about with your number plate, I would strongly suggest that you buy two sets of plates. Keep the legal set in the boot along with tools to quickly change them over or a roll of automotive trim tape, and fit the illegal ones to your car.
You can then swap the correct ones over for MOT time and when stopped by police you can rectify the fault immediately at the roadside.
Better still, use the legal set by default, and fit the illegal ones for show when the car is off road at exhibitions and events.
If you roll with the illegal plates, then always be aware you’ve invited police to stop you. So make absolutely certain there are no other vehicle defects and that you never carry anything illegal including anything which could be construed as an offensive weapon.

ANY variation from the official formate can lead to the number being withdrawn. It will also fail it's MOT when required.

If you are in the UK, then no, you can't change the spacing.
Can I move spaces and letters on my private number plate?
No.
Changing the spacing on a number plate is illegal. This applies to all number plates, even if you have a personalised one.
Why can't I change the number plate spacing?
Having letters spaced correctly makes it easier for people and computer systems. Changing the spaces affects the computer systems. These days many computer systems (such as speed checks and road tax checking) rely on computer systems to read a number plate correctly.
