  • Where do I find a comprehensive guitar effects processor?

Years back, about 20 years ago, I borrowed an awesome guitar effects processor (the unit cost like 5 grand). It had about 200 stored preset effects you could easily switch back and forth on using a big knob, and it was programmable so you could customize any of them. It had a pedal attachment but I never used it.

Recently I was looking to buy something similar and I can't find anything. Everything out there is limited, arcane, only designed to emulate vintage gear, or chained to a PC. The unit I used didn't require a pedal and had an actual dot matrix display and was really easy to use and customize on-the-fly, no PC software required.

  • If I overpay on my consolidated student loan, will it lower my usual payments later?

I'm dumping my next tax rebate into my student loan principal. (Yes, boring, but practical!)

Will that, by default, lower the monthly payment, or will that just shorten the loan duration?

  • Way to practice listening to Indian Accent?

I have a heavy duty phone interview coming up, with an Indian person. I'd rather eat a box of nails, but I need the job.

Is there a collection of videos and/or audio that I could use to practice listening to Indian accents?

Searching so far has gotten me prank videos, nothing truly conversational.

  • Causes of a specific kind of conscious blackout?

At various points in my life I have these blinkout/blackouts where I seem to skip a certain amount of time. There are no other symptoms other than I find myself a moment later in time in a blink, with no discontinuity, or confusion, or change in mental state, other than surprise at the shift.

It is exactly like listening to a CD or watching a movie that skips a little then keeps playing. Same reaction too. "Whoa, what was that?"

What I'm confused about is I can't find any information about blackouts that are perfectly seamless, and I mean perfect. No transitional issues, no confusion, no apparent sensory loss, no pain, and no change in physical position, comfort level, or mood. Even whatever I'm thinking about is preserved without interruption until the surprise sets in.

For example, one time I sat down on a bus and it was parked. I was watching out the window intently. The

still parking lot skipped into moving road, with the parking lot moving out of view. Probably skipped about 30 seconds or so. I was pretty intent and focused, and if there was any deviation in my pattern of thought, or change in intensity, or confusion, I would have noticed, and there wasn't. Seamless.

I'm always sitting down or laying back when it happens, relaxed.

Is there a name for this? Any comments or research?

  • Is it dumb to pay off debt right now?

Inflation is supposed to go sky high....if you have a 8% loan and like 10+% inflation, don't you make money by not paying? Or am I missing something?

  • Tanning bed doesn't light up?

I go to a 24 hour gym, and they have two tanning beds. I got in a few times, but there is no visible light. It clicks, it makes noise, but no brightness.

I seem to be a bit tanner, but maybe that is the hiking I did last week.

Is this normal, or is the thing broken? Neither tanning bed lights up.

I'm thinking this is ok since UV rays are invisible, but as far as I know they make visible light too.
