  • Core 2 Duo E8500 or Core 2 Quad Q9300?

    In January 2008 (the 20th, I think), Intel will release their 45nm processors.

    Anyway, I plan to get one of these, because my new motherboard has support for it. I'm stuck between two different ones, both priced at about $266 USD. They are as follows:

    1) -- Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.166 GHz, 6MB single L2 cache, 1333 MHz FSB, 65W TDP)

    2) -- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 (2.5 GHz, two 3MB L2 caches, 1333 MHz FSB, 95 W TDP)

    The question essentially comes down to this: should I get a fast dual core, or a slightly slower quad core? I've searched around, and have found mixed results as to which would be faster.

    Notes:

    1) I am not going to overclock.

    2) Both will be faster than the Pentium D 930 I'm using now.

  • Temperatures for a Pentium D 930 (3.0 GHz)?

    Is 45 degrees Celsius a reasonable idle temperature for a Pentium D 930? Note: I'm not trying to overclock it. As for temperature under load, usually it goes between 46 and 52 degrees, though I've seen it go as high as 58.

    Any comments on these temperatures?

  • Is a guy's height an important factor to girls?

    I have no idea to what extent the whole "girls don't like guys shorter than them" thing is true. I say this because I'm about 5' 6" (maybe 5' 7"), and I'm shorter than many of the other guys I know. What worries me is that I'll be alone for the rest of my life just because I'm short. So how much is height a factor for girls? I really hope that my impression from Internet forums, TV, and my imagination are wrong about this... I'd hate to think that that many people could be so shallow.

    So do I have any hope at all?

    Oh, and I'm a 19 year-old college student, so don't say "Wait to grow more."
