I am 46 years old, been with the same lady for 14 years, and have one stepson who just graduated and turned 18. I've worked in management for over 25 years along with construction off and on (even owned my own home repair business for awhile), and have one cat and one dog (though at one point, we had 23 animals of all different kinds). College educated, I left my major to pursue a career which appealed to my heart, not my head (as they say, if you enjoy your job, then you never work another day in your life). Raised in the Christian faith, I would characterize myself as more spiritual than religious. I answer all questions honestly and factually, with as little of my personal opinions as possible, though my friends and family say that I can be brutally honest at times. I don't mind receiving emails, either as a response to an answer that I've given, or to get more info about something that I said in an answer, whether or not it was related to the question

  • DOS command.....?

I need to copy a software program from one computer to another or to disc/cd-rom, because I don't have the installation disc and due to virus corruption, it doesn't work properly anymore. When I use the DOS command: "copy C:\*.* A:\*.* " , it will only copy files in the current directory, none of the sub-directories and their files.

What should I use in place of the "*.*" so that it copies the entire program (files, directories, sub-directories, etc.) ?

Or, what other DOS command is more appropriate for this operation?

******Please, only those with REAL knowledge of DOS and IT respond. This is a serious question and I need serious, educated answers!*****

  • I bought two computers, one has the basic software......?

that it came with and I gave it to my mom. The other has lots of additional software loaded on it and I have access to the internet.

Due to viruses and spyware/adware/malware, my computer now has corrupted files which cannot be accessed or I have deleted. I know how to remove the additional software that I have loaded, so that I can reinstall it later. When the two computers were purchased they were identical, so the only difference is the added software. But I have two questions: How can I use the DOS command "copy c:\ a:\" to copy all the files in the multi-layer directories without having to go through all the layers and copy each directory separately? And if this is impossible or too difficult, how can I link them via cable to copy the one's contents to the other? (I don't have the Windows Installation disc or it wouldn't be a problem.) I have found a reputable computer support business that is local and they will do it for $119 if I provide the driver files.
