Haven't been home for almost 2 years. What will be different?

I am flying from England to Australia via KL and want to buy some alcohol. Duty free alcohol at London Heathrow is pretty cheap, but will it be cheaper in KL? Thanks

I am an Aussie planning on travelling across Canada by rail, starting in Vancouver this April. I am going to buy a VIA rail pass. I see that the VIA Rail website tells me that from Vancouver to Edmonton is 23 hours, which in my opinion is too long to spend on a train. So I want to stop off on the way. Should I stop off in Kamloops or Jasper, or somewhere else all together? Where will I be able to find cheap accommodation (eg. hostel) and things to do closeby (ie. without a car)? Thanks!

Can anyone recommend a good hostel to stay in Cesky Krumlov? I know a lot of backpackers go to this town. Ideally, I would like to know if there is a hostel where I can meet and party with some backpackers (you know, the usual Aussie/Kiwi type crowd).

I am in the Czech Republic for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Years. I was thinking of trying out some cheap skiing while I'm there. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has been to Benecko in the Krkonose mountains.

Also, I have found Pension Chata Karolina in hostel web sites but they don't have any reviews for it. Has anyone stayed there?

Which is the cooler place? Venice Beach in LA, USA, or Camden Town in London, UK?

I've been to both and I think they are similar in many ways, but with a compleletely different feel. Which do you like better? I like Camden.

I know it is a traditional part of their uniform, but why checkers?
