I am 58 years old, retired from the school bus industry due to health. I spent 32 years designing, manufacturing, and selling school buses, and am quite familiar with all of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. I am disabled, on oxygen 24/7, among other medications. Two heart attacks, six strokes, emphysema, and triple bypass surgery keep me pretty close to home, and the computer is my outlet.

  • Actually, I want to comment on a resolved question?

The question was raised about headlights being required in the rain. Ohio is not the first state to require this on school buses. This is required in many states. I remember tinkering with relays to come up with a way to turn the headlights on automatically when the wiper switch was turned on.

In Indiana, many school buses are being equipped with "wig wag" headlights like police cars use, that come on when the red warning lights and stop arm are activated.
