What substrate, plants and wood are safe for Mediterranean Geckos?
I have 2 Mediterranean Geckos that are about 3 months old. They are very tiny (about 2 1/2-3 inches including tails) and delicate. I am getting them a 12" square glass Gecko house and I want to equip it with the best things.
Problem is, all advice I get is different. Currently they have been living on gecko carpet with a sandstone rock, petrified wood log and a sweat shirt sleeve that they curl up in. We feed them in a separate box coz they cant seem to see the pin head crickets well in their home box, and I have been told not to leave ANY crickets in with them alone.
Last year we had a sweet little Med Gecko and we used Maple stems for something for him to climb on. Found out too late that Maple and just abt every other plant is poison to the Med gecko. So no twigs now.
I am going to make 1/2 the floor slate to feed them on and the other half some kind of substrate( Coconut?). I am worried to use coconut soil coz they might choke on it. I used plastic plants and they nibbled the leaves! So no plants now.
Are there any plants and soil that are safe for them? Any driftwood that wont poison them? The internet gives all sorts of differing advice, so please help!
Thanks in advance from Minni and Echo Gecko.
1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden7 years agoWhat is happening to Yahoo mail?
My emails are worse and worse each day. First they were scrambled, now when I reply to an email, the title of the email becomes "Me" in the sent and received folder. if I reopen the email and reply again, the title changes to "Me me". Is this a joke or is this fixable? My old format and theme are history.

2 AnswersNotices and Errors7 years agoWhat causes people to torture or kill pets?
I have been involved in animal rescue for many years, and have seen some really awful cases of animal abuse. My focus has mostly been in getting rescue and treatment for the animal. But lately i have begun to really wonder what causes seemingly "normal" children and adults to harm and kill their pets. Generally, most people love their pets.
Two stories stand out to me. My friend was raised in a rural community with many neighbors. She recalls all the neighborhood children out playing in spring/summer. Two little boys who were left alone a lot would put firecrackers around dog's necks and laugh as they lighted them and the dogs ran in fear and pain. They also kicked dogs and cats that were their pets. One of them later grew up to drive and run over dogs and snakes intentionally. The other story that I cant forget is one my mother told about her friend who got her son a puppy, and later found him beating the puppy to death with a brick.
These happened in the days before there were any children's or animal protection "agencies to report to. My question is "What might cause a child or adult to want to harm or kill something that most people cherish and love"?

1 AnswerNotices and Errors7 years agoSeizures in a dog?
My friend's Beagle is having seizures since last week. She has had blood work and X-rays done and everything is fine. She gets a catscan Tuesday because the brain is all the have left to check.
She was having gran mal seizures, but after Valium and phenobarbitrol she is having small ones almost all day. They have not been able to totally stop the seizures.
She has not been exposed to any toxins.
Any ideas on what may be causing this? Any of you treating your dog with seizures with unknown origins and if so, what with?
Thanks!
