I was sitting on my bed working on my laptop and right out of the blue we heard a tremendous bout of thunder and then next thing I knew, lightning went through our living room window, my sister felt the static electricity go through her body (she was sitting in a chair in that room) and it continued on to my room and completely fried the laptop modem, adaptor and now the laptop won't power up. It's completely dead. Is there any way 1) to make it work again and 2) to get all my pictures and documents off of it? By the way, I normally unplug my laptop when there's a storm but it went from sunny skies to lightning in one second.

Some person was trying to break into the trunk of my car and they ended up removing the whole lock (so now there is nothing to put a key in but a big hole) and I can't figure out how to get into the trunk now. Is there a lever or latch somewhere that I can release? There is no trunk release lever up front and I don't know how to get into the trunk. It's a 1989 Toyota Corolla. I would like to use the trunk if possible but I definitely would like to get in there and get some stuff out of the trunk that is currently in there.

If you are looking to rent an apt. in California and you relocated there for a job - and you have been at your job for 3 wks, then is it legal for the landlord to ask for 2 months rent ($800 per month so $1600 total) PLUS security deposit of $800? That would be a total of $2400 to move in. I just want to pay first month's rent and a security deposit. I heard somewhere that you don't have to pay more than 2 months total to move in. If you have just been diagnosed with Diabetes, and you have to take insulin shots, how long before you get your numbers down into the normal range?

A friend was just diagnosed with diabetes but the pills didn't work for him so they put him on insulin shots. It's now been 2 months and they aren't making a difference either. He doesn't eat breakfast or lunch and nothing until dinnertime and then he eats about 3x the amount a grown man would eat. The doctor and relatives have told him he needs to change to eating regular meals but he doesn't think it really matters. Does it? And what's going to happen to him if he keeps eating like he does and his levels remain high all the time (in the 200's all day)? He is 65 yrs. old.
