  • What should I do if my new female betta is eggbound, and I don't want to breed her?

I think my female betta is eggbound. She act like she has swim bladder disease, but has not eaten since I purchased her 5 days ago, and the problem has sprung up in the last three days. I didn't think not eating was abnormal since most of my male bettas don't eat for a week after I purchase them either. She head stands and hangs at the top of the tank alot.

What can I do if she is eggbound. Would it help to breed her to one of my boys. No I don't intend on raising them, but I could just throw the eggs when they have done the deed. What would doing that entail? How long does the courtship take? Will my male hurt her. I have heard boy bettas can be brats during the courtship process. Is there any other way to relieve her if she is eggbound? I don't won't her to die. She is sweet little girl. I admit I bought her because I thought it was unfair that nobody wanted the girls so they just got thrown away.
