I participate in yahoo answers because I want to share my knowledge, experience, particularly with those wishing to improve their English Language skills. My personal rule is to answer questions solely from my "storehouse of knowledge"--impromptu, off-the-cuff, without using any online or other external references. This way, it's sort of an ongoing "pop quiz" for me; entertaining, and hopefully rewarding, if I manage to help someone. Favorite quote, the motto of University of Cambridge, England: "Hinc Lucem et Pocula Sacra" from Latin, which translates to: "Here is the light and the sacred cup." Meaning, to me, knowledge is sacred, no one can ever take your knowledge away from you, and it is your joyous duty to pass it on. Added later: After participating in Yahoo!answers for a while, I wish to add that I've learned much as well, from reading other responses to a question I've answered, or by seeing a question that piqued my curiosity, and being enlightened by the responses.
