  • Is it ethical to copy a house plan without purchasing the plan?

    I found an on line house plan I would like to use for construction of a new house. Because the house plan was designed by a nationally known architect, the on line site want's over $5,000 for CAD/blueprint copies. This is the only on line site with this particular house design so I'm thinking of having someone local duplicate the house plan design. Is this ethical? Or, by the time I pay someone local to draw the plans and have an architect review and approve the drawings, would $5,000 not appear to be so out of line? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
