  • Help! New Xbox 360 and lag issue?

Ok I have been searching everywhere for my problem, but found nothing even close to it. I started to notice voice lag on xbox live in party chat and in games (all games in general). Here's what's going on:

Basically when I am in a party in the dashboard or in a game (voice party) i will start to say something and no one can hear me. Doesnt matter how many people are in the party its always the same. I basically have to say the first word of every statement twice and its like the mic then realizes im talking and people can hear me. It is getting rather anoying becasue i find myself repeating everthing I say. At first i thought it could of been other peoples internet connection so i had a buddy bring his xbox over and we tried a party chat out (on my home network) and sure enough the same exact thing was occuring. I even tried seperate mics and seperate controllers. This is very difficult to describe what is actually happening, but i hope someone gets it.

Ok, so now in games: The only example i have for you is a game with a killcam like COD black ops. So for example I am in a match and I start shooting someone and they get a headshot on me and i go down. I watch the killcam and it doesnt even show bullits coming out of my gun. Its as if i just walked up to the guy and let him shoot me in the face. Again i thought it could be something to do with the game being laggy. My friend and i tested this theory in a pricate match. With both of us on my home network i shot to the left of him and let him get a headshot on me and sure enough no bullets came out of my gun when he killed me.

I know that there are many variables that play into all these senarios i have given so let me explain my setup and tell you what ive tried:

I have a cable internet connection running to a dlink dir-655.

    Wireless attempts:

    1. I have tried opening the specified ports and running the two above senarios, yielded the same results

    2. I have tried placing the xbox in DMZ mode and running the above senarios, yielded the same results

    Wired attempts:

    1. First I tried just running wired, yielded same results

    2. opened the ports, yielded the same results

    3. put back in DMZ, yielded same results

    4. Bypass the router completely and direct connect the modem to the xbox, yielded same resutls

So it would seem that I have ruled out my router as being the culprit. So now you say it could be my isp right? Well I had AT&T's DSL and had the exact same problem. I switched to cable becasue I thought it could be the isp. So now thats ruled out.

This all began when I got the new xbox 360 about 2 months ago. I never had this problem with my elite 360. Can there actually be something wrong with my xbox? If there is it would have to be the wired and wireless in the xbox which seems very unlikely. I have no way to actually test the xbox without voiding the warrenty.

Now to my question finnaly, How do I get rid of this lag? I am really getting tired of repeating myself constantly and getting killed when i know i shot first. If anyone on here is willing to help me and wants to see what i am talking about please reply and maybe we can party chat so you can see for yourself.

Update: I have also tried changing the UPnP settings from off to on in all of the tests as well. Basically this has been about a 12 hour process :(
