Breeder's Cup officially going steroid free...first step?...or not strong enough!!?
This article came out today on Thoroughbred Times. It tells about how the Breeder's Cup Championships (this year at Santa Anita, California) will have steroid testing 2 weeks before the race, the day of the race and after the race. With (one year) suspensions given to trainers caught (along with forfiture of prize).

I think it was about time that the US got steroids banned just like most other racing countries. I see this as a wonderful opportunity to really see what these horses can due without a shot of something or a milkshake of something else. But that's my opinion...What do you think?
Also, Lasix wasn't mentioned so that isn't part of the ban. What do you all think...Is this a step in the right direction or should they just ban all raceday meds too?
4 AnswersHorse Racing1 decade agoBig Brown at the Haskell Inv. this weekend...
So what do y'all think? Is the Brown horse going to come back as a true champ or is he faded and going to the breeding shed? Opinions?
Bonus:
Curlin came in second on his last out -although it was on turf-. What are the chances of these two meeting at the Breeders Cup Classic afterall? Is this the start of this year's BC Classic rivalry? You be the judge.

Place your bets people. WHAT DO YA'LL THINK!!???
It's only 1 1/8 miles plus a $50,000 for Big Brown's connections. Let's hear it.
7 AnswersHorse Racing1 decade agoWhat do you think of this guy (Jess Jackson)?
I just read this story about Jess Jackson, the founder of the Kendall-Jackson wines, where he is going all around the world buying top horses to breed to his Amrican stock. He claims that new bloodlines (with more stamina and bone) are the key to better American breeding. I tend to agree...American race horse breeding has been driven into a corner of the population (but that's just my opinion). What's your opinion?
Since the Belmont is this weekend I'm sure questions in this category will probably jump.
1 AnswerHorse Racing1 decade agoBig Brown at Belmont (Triple Crown race)?
I’ve been watching Big Brown (check the videos below) and I think that he is a real race horse. I think he is a freak of nature (with a turbo button –white patch- to boost) and that we are in the presence of greatness, but that’s just my opinion.
What’s your opinion? Is the 3YO field weak this year (can you show evidence of this)?
Can Casino Drive really take him at the Belmont Stakes? I’ve enclosed the only two races that CD has been in. Does he impress you as much as BB? I know he has the pedigree for the distance, but can he really beat the “Freak”?
Can Dennis of Cork really pull it out? He finished fifth at Illinois and a far third at the K-Derby. Does he really have it in him? What about Macho Again?
What about BB’s front feet (can they handle all this running)? In the challenge of a “game” race can he really win a duel? What do you think?
