  • Which Linux distro is right for me?

I'm hoping to remove the aged Windows ME from my desktop and replace it with Linux, but I am unsure of which distro and version of distro to use.

The computer is an hp paillion 2950.

According to my PheonixBIOS Setus Utility, my Installed Memory is 128 MB, CPU Type is Pentium III, CPU Speed is shown as 1000MHz/133MHz and Cache RAM is shown as 256 KB.

When I go into My Computer Properties, my memory as 127.0MB RAM and does not display the CPU speed. Entering (C:) properties, I'm show that my total capacity is 38.1 GB for memory. My file system is on FAT32 (if that even matters).

I'm not very knowledged in computers (infact, I'll say it, I'm pretty ignorant on the topic.)

I'd just like to get rid of Windows (without resorting to using something as annoying as a Mac...) and have Linux on my computer...

    Help?

  • Where is an inexpensive place to live?

My boyfriend and I are expecting our first child this April. We've been on the search for homes here in Florida (where we are currently living) and finding it way too expensive to live. Where is an inexpensive (and safe) place in the U.S. to live?

Please keep in mind that in Camden, NJ there are homes for 14k but they are on .03 acres of land and aren't exactally safe... so I'm not looking for a place where my daughter won't be able to play in the backyard.

I have family in Delaware, Maryland and Virgina (but havn't really found inexpensive towns in those areas.)

Also, my boyfriend works in computers. Living outside of a metro area would be ideal, but can't live somewhere that would make his commute unbearable!

    Thanks so much!

  • What's the best way to create a compost pile?

I live in Florida and I'm hoping to start a garden come next spring, but I'd like to add my own fertalizer (to make the food more "organic" or "natural" in a sense.) I've read some guides, but I'd like some more hands-on information from those who have "been there, done that".

-What is the best container to use?

-How often should I turn the pile?

-When should I add new waste?

-How does the humidity in the summertime affect my compost pile?

-Will the pile attract unwanteds (i.e. raccoons, mosquitos, snakes, etc.)?

-What's the best way to add compost to my garden before, once, and after it's established?

    Thanks so much!

  • How much does a gallon of mily cost in Chino, CA?

My boyfriend and I are thinking about moving out to Chino (transferring his job) and I am due with my daughter in April. I would like to know what prices are in general compared to the wages my boyfriend would be making. Thanks so much.
