  • Are acid-free, magnetic photo albums a good choice for organizing and saving family pictures?

These albums have the pages with a sticky background and clear plastic overlay. I know in the past these type of pages used glue that could ruin your photos. Are the new ones (acid-free) OK to use? If not, what are some other suggestions for saving photos in albums?

  • How do I move/transplant hostas, dwarf spruce?

We have a plumbing problem and our front yard is going to be dug up to make the repairs. We want to save as many plants as possible. There are several hostas and dwarf spruce which will have to be removed in order to take care of the plumbing project. We're thinking of removing them from the front and putting them in the back yard. The hostas are large (24" across) and I wonder if we should divide them before we replant. We'd appreciate any suggestions and tips for moving the plants successfully.

  • Plumbing question - how to connect 1 1/2" pipe to 1 1/4" pipe?

We recently put a different sink in a bathroom in our house. The pipe coming out of the wall is 1 1/2" and the sink drain pipe is 1 1/4" (plastic pipe not metal). Is there a connector or set of parts that can be used to connect the two? Where can I find this type of item (big name home improvement stores don't seem to have the right parts)?

    Thanks!

  • Unity Day in Germany is Oct. 3 - how is it celebrated? are stores, restaurants open?

I will be in Germany on Oct. 3 and want to know what to expect. I am wondering if it is like an American holiday where most businesses are closed, but retail stores hold special sales to get customers to shop and popular attractions are crowded.

Will tourist places (castles, museums, other attractions) be open or closed? How about restaurants?

    Thanks for your help!

  • German Trains 1st class vs. 2nd class - difference?

We're planning a vacation in Germany at the end of September and will visit a few cities. We plan to purchase a rail pass to get from one place to another.

Is there a difference between 1st and 2nd class tickets for trains in Germany? If so, what are the major differences? If not, is there a reason why 1st class tickets are more expensive than 2nd class?

    Thanks for your help!

  • Should we purchase train tickets to Munich at the station when we arrive in Frankfurt?

We are going to Germany this fall and will fly into Frankfurt. We plan to go immediately to Munich by train. I have heard it is better to purchase tickets ahead of time, but what if you don't know exactly which train you will take (in case our flight arrives late)? Can you purchase a ticket from Frankfurt to Munich and use it on any of the trains (like commuter trains in US) or are the tickets for specific trains (like planes and Amtrak)? Is there a big difference in price when you purchase the tickets ahead of time?

  • Help me find Festool factory in Germany?

My boyfriend and I are going to Germany this fall and he is a HUGE fan of Festool products. They have a factory in Germany. We'd love to go on a tour of the facility, but don't know exactly where it is or how to reach the people who work there. I found the following address on the Festool/Germany website:

TTS Tooltechnic Systems AG & Co. KG

    Wertstrasse 20

    D-73240 Wendlingen

Any idea where this is located? What is the best way to contact them?

    Thanks!
