Suggestions for the last few pounds of weight loss.?
So, I've been in a weight loss challenge. I have 2.5 weeks to go and have had some good results up until now (about 2-3 pounds per week). I'm at the gym working out 4-5 days a week for about an hour each time combining cardio and weights. I have modified my diet: cutting out alcohol, sugar, and refined carbs. Lots of vegetables and lean protein. At the very end of the challenge, I'd like a little "kick" just to boost my numbers.
Since this has been an actual lifestyle change as opposed to a "quick fix," I am confident that most of the weight will stay off and that I will continue to shed pounds (ideally, 25 more).
But, just for the purpose of this final weigh in, what have been your experiences in "quick fix" weight loss methods?
Thanks for your suggestions!

4 AnswersDenver1 decade ago"To whomever it concerns" vs "To whom it may concern"?
After completing a graduate program I returned to my hometown to be near my family. I am in the process of looking for a job. One position that is right up my alley is posted on craigslist with a blind email. I do not know exactly which business has made the listing and so I do not know for certain who the HR manager is. Is it more correct to begin a cover letter with "To whomever it concerns" or "To whom it may concern?" Or, should I err to "Dear Sir or Madam?" Any input would be appreciated.
3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoTo whom should I donate a lot of used toys?
I have a crazy aunt who sends my daughter more random toys than she could ever possibly appreciate. My aunt does this because she has too much time and money and not enough substance in her own life. Even though I have asked her to stop, she persists because she thinks that it is funny. Most recently, she has taken to buying up large lots of Barbie dolls (newer worthless ones), barbie furniture, and barbie clothes and sending them to me by the boxful. While I am appreciative, I am also disturbed because I do not want my child to think that she can just have everything. I would like to donate these things to a charity that would find them useful or enjoyable as I simply do not have the space (or, frankly, the need) to keep them.
I would like some suggestions as to the type of place I might look to give these away without also passing along their not-insignificant annoyance factor.
Thank you for your help.
I WILL choose a best answer.

In your opinion, what is the best place in Houston to get a good selection of wine by the glass? I am tired of seeing all the same things on a list. Anyone gone anywhere great?

3 AnswersHouston1 decade agoWhat is the etiquette of applause?
It has been a long time since I went to a ballet performance by a major company. I am a supporter of the arts, but generally go to symphony and opera over ballet. At those performances, one doesn't applaud until the end of a scene. And the performers don't take bows until the end of the performance.
Today I went to the Nutcracker with some 5 year olds. I had hoped to set a good example, but found myself confused regarding the etiquette of applause. Is one really expected to applaud *every* pas de deux? Pas de trois? Company dance? Or was it simply that a Saturday matinee performance of the Nutcracker brought out a less experienced crowd (myself included)?
Thank you in advance for your answers and for not mocking me.

If vegetables in particular have already been cooked and just need to be warmed up, does it matter what method you use to heat them? That is to say, does exposure to microwaves degrade vitamins more than using a stove top or conventional oven to acheive the same temperature prior to serving?
