Where are the HTTP settings for the browser located?
I am trying to download Microsoft security Essentials and when I click down load I get the "Cannot connect to this page" page. When I click diagnose, it says that the HTTP settings are not set up to establish these kinds of connections, to contact the administrator. This is the first time i have ever saw this problem. This is the first time in 5 years I have asked a question. I am repairing a laptop that was severely infected and still is infrected. I cannot download any kind of security. I had to use a back door even to talk to Microsoft online with the laptop as the infections redirected the browser. When I tried to load the easy assist, I recieved the same message saying that I could noy connect because of the HTTP settings. The same message also appeared when I tried to download Kspersky free scan. bThe only way I could even begin to fix it was to burn my tools onto a CD and then load them into the laptop that way. I dont want to go through the process of downloading the security to my desktop then burning to a CD then installing onto the laptop as it would not be fixed if i had to. I have used the cd method to load enough tools into the laptop to kill the infections and fix the registry, but I want to be able to download Security essentials from the site. If I cannot download MSE from the site then the laptop is not fixed the way I see it. And again, according to the diagnosis the only thing stopping me from downloading Microsoft Security Essentials from the site is the HTTP settings. The person that helps me with this will have a rain check for a favor from me if they ever need help fixing a computer and I am very good with computers. Thank you for taking the time to read my question. And please, NO BULL$H!TTERS.
