Not really the answer to your question – but something you should be aware of.
Both Dish and DirecTV are switching High Definition programming to MPEG4 early next year. Satellite TV requires you to purchase equipment and all their High Definition receivers will soon become obsolete
I would temporarily recommend Cable TV.
I have Dish Networks best High Definition PVR and I’m not happy about this.
Next spring evaluate Dish and DirecTV’s new High Definition PVR’s and decide then.

I have the HR10-250 DirectTV HD TIVO, and love it. I get my local HD network feeds from a cheapo antenna, and get about a dozen HD channels off of the Satellite.

Dish Network rocks! I've had it for the last 8 years and I've had a Dish PVR now for 4 years. I wouldn't trade this system for anything. The quality is incredible and the price is right. You can get up to four receivers (including PVRs) for free right now.

DIRECTTV IS GOD
Have had 4 many years, I LOVE IT. But you can get a free TIVO DVR AND OR HDTV FOR FREE. PLUS you don't have to pay for it and it Doesn’t cost money. That is after rebate. ALSO U MUST GET A TIVO

i love digital Cable with HD and DVR. no want to positioned a large dish outdoors! It seems cheesy, you're able to pay for it, and also you may lose reception at the same time as it rains or receives too windy.
