House training an older dog?

I have a dog that is 12 years old. He is for the most part house trained. He pees outside the majority of the time. But often he still pees in the house...usually in the exact same spots. Anyone have tips to stop this? Is there some kind of repellant spray that people have used successfully? Any advice would be appreciated.

With an older dog, bladder control can be a problem. You might want to have a vet check him out to make sure there are no physicial reasons for the accidents. It could be a bladder infection or kidney problem. Usually the dog doesn't want to do it, but can't help themselves. You may need to make sure he gets outside more often, and clean the soiled areas thoroughly to remove the odors. Be sure to use a pet deodorizer as well. They will often go back to where they did it before because they can smell it.

Unfortunately, this is often a common thing for older dogs, and it's very hard to stop it. They're old and not feeling well, can't "hold it" as long anymore. You could try crating him when you can't supervise him closely. Dogs don't want to soil the place they sleep in.

Good Luck and I hope everything works out well with your senior dog.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMOu1

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.
