Riddle Me, Riddle Me?

First to get this right will get 10 points here goes...
Guess the ages of the children:
A census personnel went to a household asking for the ages of a couple's children.
Here are what the couple told the census personnel:

1.) Product of their age is 36
2.) Sum of their ages is the # on their next door neighbor.

The census personnel went away after obtaining these data but after a while he realized that the information was incomplete so he went back to that house. The couple then added:

"Oh! My eldest is upstairs reading comics!"

The census personel went away happily, having the ages of their children.

Question: What are the ages of the children?

Favorite Answer

9,2,2
bcoz 6+6+1=9+2+2=13
This is the only conflicting triple. as the eldest is one so their age is 9,2,2

It could be: 18, 2, 1 - the number would be 21 next door.
Or: 9, 2, 2 - the number would be 13 next door.
Or: 6, 3, 2 - the number would be 11 next door.

(Yes, 6 yrs old is old enough to read comics - I started reading them when I was 5!)

Considering no details are provided concerning the number on the neighbor, iceman's answer is a chosen best on my accord.

Youngest: 3
Middle: 6
Oldest: 18
I don't know if this is right because in the math area I'm not the best.

Impossible to answer... we don't know how many children are being considered. And why does the neighbor have a # on him?
