What to do with pictures my father took while in Vietnam.?
I found an old box of picures with negatives in my father's old things after he passed away. The pictures are unbelievable! There are many, meaning at least 200. He served in the vietnam war, so many of them are of villagers and other fellow troops. Many of the pics are very well taken and are very informative. He never shared much with me about his experiences over there except a couple stories which bothered him to finish. Finding these pictures helped me understand him alot more, if that helps you understand what is included.
I thought I might see what I could find out from here. email me if you want further info. iromero24(at)yahoo(dot)com

** It would also be great if I could get some links to possible websites that would be informative or interested!***

Contact your local VA or even your army recuiter. Ask if they would like the pictures if you don't want them. You could possibly contact a military magazine to see if they would want them. They may publish some of them.
Those were very emotional times for your dad. I know my dad was also in Vietnam and has taken many pictures. I've got all of them in photo albums, and I've also taken a majority of them and scaned them onto my computer as a back up basically just in case anything was to ever happen to the originals. Unfortunately my dad didn't have any of the negatives so being able to make new prints is out of the question. If your looking for a keepsake, I would recomend making a scrapbook, or photo album with them. Maybe even make a little tribute to your dad with some of the pictures you feel are important and frame them up and set them on display in your place. My dad had saved his uniform and a few medals that he received and I want to one day when he passes them down to get them framed so that I can display them in my place. I hope I helped in some way.
I would get some of the negatives developed and copy prints into a scrapbook. I would make inquiries of the local vfw post and see if anyone was in your fathers unit. I would be interested in looking at them. As a option start a yahoo group with the photos in the photo section. My email is gravel_man71348@yahoo.com
Your photos are a amazing part of history. Although I'm Canadian I remember watching the war on the news.Protect and preserve them. So often parts of history are destroyed. It was quit a era a lot was happening in those days. I always liked history and I've come to find the people like your dad were true heros. Cherish the memory, Cherish the photos!
I would have a trusted photographer print some of the negatives. You could possibly sell them depending on the quality. You could keep part - ownership even. Or sell them altogether. You also can have them organized in archival packaging so they will be here for generations to come.
