Why are some people opposed to Bisexuality and Gay marriage?
I'm Bisexual and have friends who are both Heterosexual and Homosexual. I don't often get on political issues, at least until they banned gay marriage. Why are these people opposed to Gay marriage? Please don't use God as an excuse, due to the Bill of Rights and our Amendments to the Constitution there is a separation of church and state as well as the freedom of expression and speech. I'm hoping for an educated andswer and will award ten points to the one who gives a thoughtful and meaningful answer. Thanks.

Alright now after reading these answers, I must clarify a few things and pose a subquestion. About the insurance. Why is it not fair that gays benefit from life insurance for their partners, some of whom have been together for many years and grown old together? And when did a church or a religion decide who can get married? Civil union is not what some gay men and women want. They want a legal and binding agreement stating simply that they love each other, are together, and will be together for their lives. And last I heard there was a thing called adoption and studies that show no indication that a child raised by two gay parents will be gay later in life. The reason I set God aside is simply because of the prejudice recieved from those of faith and because of the separation of church and state. It has not been the policy of the American government to indicate religious values in the decisions of this nation. Hopefully, I have cleared some things up in these details.

I wouldn't give a damned dime for the "traditional" view of marriage for there is NO good reason that anyone can state that justifies denial of marriages rights to human couples made up of individuals -- same sex or different sex -- who want to accept the responsibilites that come with that package. This is the 21st century, and it's time to move on and make changes just as with other matters -- civil rights, women voting, age of voting, black and white marriages, Magellan's voyage, C. Columus's voyage, Open heart surgery, space exploration -- and on and on all the changes go due to eradication of myths, acceptance of reason and justice as how we do things now.
Gays can make marriage worthy to be admired. Gays can effectively lead children into adulthood. Gays work jobs, own homes, and pay taxes. Gays perform admirably in uniformed services.
This is a civil matter, not a religous one. This is a matter of justice. This is a matter of telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
Only people who choose stupidity, prejudice, bigotry, prideful ignorance, and hypocrisy with human existence over reason, justice, and facts of the real world in which we live would get in the way of Gay Marriages. Opposition to Gay Marriage is nothing other than sheer insanity.
I have no idea. They are afraid is the best thing I can come up with. I totally agree with you in the separation of church and state... but this administration doesn't seem to understand that.. and many other things. Our rights are being stripped away... Gays never had the right to begin with but I am sure if it wasn't for this adminstration and there evaneglist/religious right crap gays would be able to enjoy marriage and all the benefits that straight couples recieve in there love. I am sorry for any discrimination that happens to anyone... people will wake up... it may take 30 years but look at the civil rights movement in the 60-70s it will happen. People just have to become so fed up to make it happen. My sister is bisexual... and I have a few homosexual friends so this does effect me and my family and I will fight for the rights of ALL human beings on this planet.
PS I read an article about gay marriage when it was legalized in the UK and I was so touched by some of the couples stories. People who had been together for nearly 30 years and finally they were allowed to make official and say that they were married. That is beautiful.
"I only support gay marriage if both chicks are hot"
Personally it makes me shiver down me spine when thinking of gay men. However, I don't have a problem with gay men or women getting married although traditionally the union of marriage was between the opposite sexes.
Churches being traditionally and old should not be forced into accepting new beliefs of society, which is why we have/should have civil marriages.
Putting my personal feelings aside, I believe that biologically/mentally some people are just turned off by the idea whereas others are frisky little things. ;)
You probably won't ever find an answer that pleases you but you should just be content knowing that not everyone thinks hypocritically. After all if you believe in true freedom and free expression then you must also allow homosexuality.
Because they were brought up that way. They just don't realize that this sort of thinking didn't exist until the 16th or 17th century, and that there are church documents chronicling sams-sex unions dating before then, as well as the rites involved with these ceremonies. They also don't realize that ancient Hebrew and Greek did not have words for homosexuality. In addition, the scripture most commonly referred to regarding homosexuality (they quote that two men shall not lay together as with a woman it is an abomination) is a complete mistranslation, taken out of context. These so-called "abominations" are more truly translated as "ritually unclean" and refer to the things in which the priesthood should not partake.
The main reason I oppose gay marriage is for religious beliefs. The bible says it's a sin. However, it's not like gay people are hurting anyone by practicing whatever they practice, so I don't consider it any of my business what they do behind closed doors. All is well, as long as, I don't hear about it. About gays getting married, I completely disagree with because it's unnatural. Religious beliefs aside, two people of the same sex cannot reproduce, which is the main rule of survival. Therefore two gay men or two gay women are defying science. It's unnatural, therefore they should not be allowed the benifits (insurance, "couple thing", ect) of being recognized as married.
