It has been surmised by a number of experts that the show, Sex and the City, is not really a show about women but a show about gay men. My sisters say that the girls they know don't talk or act like the ones on the show. What do you think?

i agree, but then again real ordinary ppl dont sell tv programs so i guess they have to resort to creating fiction
I don't think it's a show about gay men. It's true that the two gay friends were featured more in later episodes, but they hardly took over.
I think the 4 characters could be considered as representations of women; not necessarily meant to resemble actual women. Samantha is the sex kitten/independent one; Charlotte the traditionalist, Miranda the career woman, and Carrie is the average one.
I don't think it has anything to do with gay men.I believe it is just a show about four friends and love and sex. Your sister is right that isn't how women act. But they had to make it interesting or it would have never been a big hit.
