Has anyone heard anything recently about the rumored movie based on Green Day's "American Idiot"? They started talking about it about six months ago, but I haven't heard anything more.

"Green Day was contacted and asked if they were interested in turning the American Idiot Story into a movie. Last year Billie Joe wrote a treatment for the movie (a general plot of the movie), and has given it to a screen writer who is in charge of turning it into and actual screen play.
Green Day has said that they will not act in the movie if it gets made. Billie Joe said "We'll leave the acting to the professionals." But they did say they would have a part in making sure the story got told the way they meant it to."

Yes, it is true. Shortly after the album was released there was speculation that American Idiot might be made into a movie. VH1 quoted Armstrong as saying "We've definitely been talking about someone writing a script for it, and there's been a few different names that have been thrown at us. It sounds really exciting, but for right now it's just talk." [1] Later, however, it was confirmed by Billie Joe Armstrong that shooting would begin for American Idiot: The Motion Picture in 2006. A fact that Armstrong stressed was that, "We want to see how it turns out first so that it doesn't suck." [2]
