how can I find charges brought against a registered sex offender in illinois?

I know this person is an offender, I am really trying to figure out how to get the case number so I can find out the details of the conviction (? status is complaint, I am not sure what that means). Any ideas on that front?

These other answerers obviously did not read your question. They just spout out Family Watchdog...
Now you want the details and not just some vague charge.
Unfortunately, you will have to try to find archived newspaper articles on it somehow.
Criminal files are public record at the courthouse but since these cases involve minors, their privacy is protected and the public cannot see the file.
Why don't you just ask the person or someone that knows him or knew him back when the incident occurred?
Yah, I agree with the above. Family Watchdog is awesome. You can search by zip code and it pulls up a map of your area, with little color-coded dots that identify what type of offender is living there. Also, the clerk of courts website for you county might be helpful. You can look-up everything on their website: traffic infractions, marriage records, criminal records, etc. It generally breaks everything down and gives you the details of what you're looking for. Also, some states (like Florida) have websites just dedicated to sex offenders. Hope this helps!
YOU MAY WANT TO GO UNDER www.familywatchdog.us/ THIS WEBSITE CAN GIVE YOU INFORMATION ON SEX OFFENDERS ALL OVER THE WORLD YOU NEED TO PROVIDE HOME ADDRESS, IE PUT YOUR OWN ADDRESS IN THERE AND IT WILL SHOW YOU WHAT OFFENDERS LIVE IN RELATION TO YOUR RESIDENCE AND WHAT THE CHARGES WERE. IT WILL ALSO EMAIL YOU WHEN A NEW SEX OFFENDER MOVES INTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD. PASS IT ON IT IS A GREAT WAY TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN AND OURSELVES. IT EVEN PROVIDES THEIR PICTURE
If they have been convicted, go to your states web site... look for the sexual offender link. You should be able to look up by name, age, address, city or zip! Hope it helps! If all else fails try calling your prosecutor's office...they can probably help you too!
