Where can I find red velvet cake and sweet potato-pecan pie around LA?
I found red velvet cake at Fred 62 in Los Feliz. But where can I find more? I have not yet successfully found sweet potato-pecan pie. House of Pies only has pecan. I am looking for the hybrid. I am near Pasadena, but I am willnig to travel modest distances for baked goods.

I didn't leave -- I was never there. Been in California all my life, but I just have a mad crazy sweet tooth.

Sweet potato pecan pie:
Doan's Bakery in Woodland Hills makes sweet potato pecan pie.
And the Restaurant downtown on Figueroa, Engine Co. No. 28, also serves it.
A little research -- Killer Shrimp near Marina Del Rey serves it (and it is recommended).
Red Velvet Cake:
I'm told that Doughboys on 3rd St. (and maybe Crescent Heights) has Red Velvet Cake. And that Phillips BBQ in Leimert Park (I've got to get back there) serves great Red Velvet, made by Ms. Ruby's Bakery in Inglewood. And closer to you is a place called Auntie Em's kitchen, which makes Red Velvet cupcakes, in Eagle Rock.
Can't vouch that all these places are still open and serving, but I think they are -- a look online and a phone call will let you know.
I'm so glad someone mentioned Auntie Em's Kitchen! I actually used to make the Red Velvet cakes there with the owner. We made them for the Edendale Grill. If I may say, an authentic recipe that doesn't wind up tasting like food coloring... I'm pretty sure it's still there, though I don't know if they're still making the deserts for Edendale Grill...
