Try running the defragmentation program in start / accessories / system/ disk defragmentor it will organize your files so that the spindle on your hard drive doesnt have to run all over the drive to find the files it wants
n-h
1-move your files from windows partition to another one.
2-increase your virtual memory.
3-defrag your hard drive.
4-check for viruses with an updated anti virus.
