Is the word "CooL" hip-hop ish?

I was in a hardcore metal concert when I shouted COOL! And this girl whom I barely know said she hated that word. That it was very hip-hop ish. Do u agree that cool is only for hip-hop? Huh? What u think?

I think the word cool, in it's slang form, has been around since the 50's... I always associated it more with Rock music fans than hip-hop. Hip-hoppers say phat or whatever stupid thing they use to describe their crappy music.

Cool has been around forever. It became popular during the jazz age. In the 1920s it was used by jazz lovers and musicians.American youths adopted it during the swing era of the late 30s and 1940s. It has stuck around ever since.
It definitely doesn't fit hardcore metal! That's not a putdown of that music.

No I think 'Cool' can be applied in any situation. I still say cool & I am not a hip-hop person. I hear people of all cultures, races, genders, ages say it. Now if you use it like punctuation to EVERY thing u say then its a problem :-D OK? Cool.

No way 'Cool' is universal and has been round for ages. the girl who told you that was probably this wannabe goth who actually has no idea what's going on around her she's just trying too hard to be cool (",)
