Cat's get bored, just like we do. when a cat sits in a window, to them, it's like going to the movies. they are watching all the activity. they see things moving around that we don't see with the naked eye. they are entertaining themselfs.

Good question. There are 2, possibly 3 reasons:
1. Kitties like warm places: When your kitty sleeps, it's body temperature drops. This is why they seek warm places, like a windowsill, a warm blanket or the front of the fridge to catch their catnaps.
2. Kitties are born hunters: For this reason, they like to sit in the windowsill and watch all the wildlife outside. This is also why they go bonkers when a bug gets in the house.
3. Kitties like high places: If your windowsill is up high, so much the better for kitty to catnap and watch the birds and squirrels.

Cats like to sit on high places. If they are inside all day long, they like to be on the windowsill to make them feel like they ARE outside. They also are propbably looking at birds, bugs or anything that they could catch! they also like the wormth of the sunlight. Remember, they are animals & animals are creatures of nature!

My cat likes the view and greatly enjoys the sunlight. He also sleeps on my back patio. :)
