I got a leafguard (alcoa leaf relief) installed on my gutters. During hard rain, instead of the rain water going into the gutters, it slides right off and falls to the side. Is this bad in any way for my house?

It depends on how often you see a hard rain. Couple times a year, not so bad. Every other rainstorm, not good.
For the sake of avoiding leaf buildup and gutter cleanout, you may have rendered your gutters less useful. The side effect is erosion of the landscaping or soil around your home's perimeter.
You might see edge marks is the rain fails in a particular line. You might see splashback onto your home and/or water in the basement - just like if you didn't have gutters.
Hopefully it is deflecting it far enough away from the house and in a variable span that you're not seeing these problems.

Not so much for the house (unless it's going under the roof or down the walls in any way). If it's just falling out the outside edge of the gutter then it's bad for your driveway or whatever it's landing on.
