The Roaring Twenties
The Roaring Twenties was an attempt by ABC to strike gold a second time after the success of The Untouchables on the network. It featured a Prohibition Era setting and concerned the adventures of two newspaper reporters, Pat Garrison and Scott Norris, in ferreting out various kinds of corruption that existed during that period. Pat and Scott were aided by nightclub singer Pinky Pinkham, copy boy Chris Higbee, and various others. Rex Reason, who played Scott Norris, departed the series after its first season and was replaced by John Dehner as Jim "Duke" Williams. Dorothy Provine, who played Pinky Pinkham, was well-received by the critics for her singing and acting in this series but it was all for naught. The Roaring Twenties never caught fire with the viewing public the way The Untouchables did and was canceled midway through the 1961-62 season after airing only 45 episodes.
