If you had your choice you you have a small intament wedding or a big family gathering?

We have both been married once before. I would rather have a small wedding and he would like a big one...but that costs alot of unnessasary money.

The word would be "intimate." And a second wedding should almost always be small, intimate, and deeply personal.

You and your future husband need to sit down and set your priorities. And set a BUDGET! Everything well be driven by the budget.

What is more important, bigger wedding or saving money for a house? There are ways to save money on a big wedding by doing it yourself. And you can still have a beautiful wedding with plenty of people.

How big is big? Is it 100 people or 200 people? Assume that it will cost $50 a head, 100 people will be $5000 dollars. That's not too bad for a reception. And I'm sure you will be able to find something for $50 a head. You can make the wedding simple and elegant.

My vote is for the big family wedding - this is important to your fiance and it may be important to the family who loves and cares for you most. To keep costs down, consider having an open house at home instead of a large reception. You could serve hors d'oeuvres, wine and punch only or opt for bbq and beer. This way you not only keep the costs low but have the same intimate feel and fun-loving day that you wish for and also include the big family event at the same time! You could keep it simple and not have specific hours of arrival and departure. With an open house, you don't necessarily need invitations either - you can send out a mass email or spread the news by word of mouth.

I wanted a very small intimate wedding - but my husband convinced me that since I am an only child and he is the only son (he has 2 sisters), we better invite more then just a few people. We compromised on having 150 people invited to our wedding and it was the perfect amount. He is Greek so he could've invited over 400 guests just on his side alone!! That was too much for me and way too expensive. We did exactly right. Been married almost a year now.

Weddings cost waaaaaaaay too much cashola. I think that industry is just sucking us dry... Disney (Cinderella) is in cahoots with them I tell ya!

My opinion - if you're going to spend any $ - spend it on eloping to a beautiful place ... perhaps have a very close friend or two join.

Get married in Paris, Italy, Hawaii, Bahamms ...or any other place you'd love to be. You kill 2 birs w/ one stone ... a wonderful wedding & honeymoon. Cost efficient!
