Alohas,

My cousin was about 6 to 8 feet away from his Guniea Pig when a Hawk took him away off the lawn one day.

We Never saw him coming and only saw him leaving for about 3 wing beats because the Guniea pig was squeling,, and he was gone behind the neighbors house in less than 2 seconds. That was 50 years ago in San Jose California not far from down town on 9th ave.

Hawks are preditors of any weak or incapacitated small animal and a bird that doesn't Fly would make an Easy Target the Same as the Guniea Pig did..

Aloha Oi

I am not sure if this hawk would prey on your cockatoo since cockatoo's are sizeable birds to my knowledge, however, better safe than sorry. Try finding an alternative place to take your bird if you have spotted the hawk several times in this area.
