I want to leave Florida, where should I go?
I'm so over the hurricanes, insurance, and the politicians that are making it all worse. Where can I go to raise my family in an environment that isn't so greedy and hateful?

North Carolina. The weather is a mild four season climate...about 3 months of each season, summers aren't killer and the winter's are mild. I strongly recommend Chapel Hill/Carrboro as an amazing place to live. It's in the center of the state, part of what is called the Triangle area...which consists of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill.
Carrboro is a smaller town that adjoins Chapel Hill. The University of North Carolina is in Chapel Hill and you get a real sense of living in the perfect college town. The town itself is very walkable, which makes for great family evenings downtown. The public school system is not only the best in the state but among the best in the country. Taxes are quite low when you compare elsewhere and the cost of living from a national standpoint is very affordable. Jobs are plentiful as the Triangle area is booming, especially raleigh...which is just a 30 minute or so drive from Chapel Hill, though there is quite a bit employment wise going on in Durham, Research Triangle Park (halfway between Raleigh and Durham) or even Chapel Hill itself. The feel of both Chapel Hill and Carrboro is academic and accepting, Carrboro is a bit more crunchy granola and a bit less pretentious. Greed and hate are not visible in either town. I lived in Carrboro and Chapel Hill for 5 years and they were the best years of my life. Sooner or later I'll return. Best of luck to you!

Don't leave yet. We've got the governor's election coming up in November and depending on which idiot we vote in, things might take a turn for the better. I think about moving a lot too, but if it means I have to spend three or four months of the year up to my butt in snow and sleet, I'd rather put up with the hell-hole I've got here. Best of luck with whatever decision you make.

Your sick of insurance so stay out of tornado alley and stay away from places that have been on the news with the fires. The North East has North-easterners. If you want to still be close to water I would go to the Great Lakes Area or if you just want to get out I would go to the Great Plains area.

I'd move to the southwest ... warm climate and no hurricanes.
