Vegas with tweens? Any suggestions for activities.?

We are going to be there for two full days. We will not be able to attend any shows but I would like this to be fun for my 10 and 14 year old daughters.

We will be at Red Rock.

Since we are staying at Red Rock Resort, I am thrilled with the suggestions to check it out. We will be at the Valley of Fire in the afternoon so we will be able to experience the beauty that the area has to offer.

Head out in the car west on Charleston Road. You will come to Red Rock National Park. You can go hiking or just picnic. Beautiful scenery and is about 10 minutes away.

Circus Circus has an Adventure Dome with roller coaster and other rides. Can be pretty crowded sometimes.

Shopping at the Forum shops at Ceasars Palace. More than enormous, it also has free shows inside (talking statues, etc). Have dinner at the Magical Empire at Ceasars. Small intimate dinner with magic and some more shows afterwards. dinner & show is about $75 bucks each but is a whole night.

Mirage has a dolphin habit and small zoo. Very nice but small. MGM has lions inside (real lions) and a movie theater inside. Bellagio fountains are really fabulous. Must see at night too.

New York New York roller coaster, also a roller coaster at the Sahara, very fast.

Luxor has an IMAX theater upstairs as well as the Palms Hotel on Tropicana.

Dinner and show at Excalibur is pretty good. Forget the name but they serve you grog and eat turkey legs with your hands. good food, you get to root for your knight or boo the black knight. Live horses in the arena. Fun stuff.

Good Luck!

As a 16 year old who has lived in vegas his whole life I can speak from expierence on this one. Circus Circus is great for kids, they still do the circus acts, and have added an indoor amusement park recently (mid-90's) that kids love. New York New York has a great midway/arcade along with a roller coaster. The Luxor has an Imax theater and some motion rides. Mandalay Bay has a huge shark aquarium. Also next to the MGM Grand is a building called the showcase mall, inside are several large tourist actrations (such as gameworks, and M&M's world). If you have a car at your disposal, Red Rock Canyon is less than 1 hr. from the strip and is beautiful, as is lake mead and Hoover dam to the Southeast. If you can fit in some time for a show, there are sever exelent day shows that are only about 90 minutes long, Rick Thomas is an exelent magician (I've met him personally and he's a great guy) who apears 3 times a day at the Stardust, he has several white tigers that apear on stage with him as well. Finally, Margaritaville (Flamingo), Rainforest Cafe' (MGM Grand), and ESPN Zone (New York New York) are all great family friendly resteraunts that your kids will love. I hope you have a great trip, let me know If you have any more questions on vegas.

P.S. If you don't have a car the city runs Double Decker busses on the strip every 24 hrs a day, they arive every 7 minutes during the afternoon, the fare is $2.00 each way for adults and $1.00 for kids, or you can buy a 24hr. pass for $5.00
Also there is now a monorail running the lenght of the strip, the fare is $5.00 each way.
