That is a really tough question. Guppies are so small, it shouldn't be a huge deal to have extras in there. I would say maybe a max of 2 adult guppies per gallon, so no more than 40 adult guppies.

You could have maybe 4 baby ones per gallon I would guess.

So if you have say 30 adults, that would be 15 gallons worth, leaving you room for no more than 20 babies in there with them (5 gallons worth).

That's just my estimate, but that would be the maximum. You would want to try to keep them under that limit I think.

The problems of guppies :) They get about 2 inches, I'd say you'd be ok with about 6-8 to be on the safe side. I'd remove all the females, see if you can find a store that will take them. Or, buy another tank and seperate the males/females. Good luck!!

EDIT: The inch per gallon rule would be ok to apply to guppies, BUT it's supposed to take into account the ADULT size of the fish, hence why I said they get about 2 inches. 40 is too many, as well as 20. Could get away with 10 or so, as long (as already mentioned) as there's good filtration & you're good about doing weekly water changes.

One inch of fish per gallon...Guppies get over 1 inch, so...Less than 20. By the way, invest in more tanks, cause they will never stop having babies.

Tropical tank - Flame gouramis, serpae tetras. ought to place a blind cave fish in there for oddity ingredient. Brackish tank - eco-friendly puffers could be cool as could a Mono. Argenteus, Bumblebee gobies are cool. those could bypass stable with the black and eco-friendly. i believe you need to place a eco-friendly puffer or 2 with some gobies. The puffers are style of a top to mid fish and the gobies are a backside fish, so they could be unfolded slightly and that i believe those 2 could bypass very nicely in a 10 gallon, nevertheless 20 gallon could help you characteristic a number of the scats or the Monos.

I have about 30 guppies in my 10 gal. tank..there seems to plenty of room and they all seem to be happy...you need more females than males that way there is a less likely chance that the males will eat the babies.
