Based on the limited information we have here, you definitely have a blockage in the drain line well below the sink. This won't be as simple as cleaning out a P trap.

I would first try a plunger, when the water is backed up in the sink, but this probably won't solve the problem.

The next least expensive option is probably a plumber's snake or drain auger. You should be able to but one at someplace like Lowe's or Home Depot for less than $20. They are not difficult to use, just a bit messy. Biggest drawback is that I think the longest you can get is only 50 feet. A handy tool to have on hand, like a plunger: you hope you never need it, but when you need it you need it now!

If the blockage is farther down the drain than that, you will either need to try a chemical drain cleaner (sulfuric acid: wear goggles and rubber gloves! Follow the instructions to the letter!), or call a plumber.

Your kitchen drain is probably blocked. The black water that is overflowing actually is "going back" to your empty sink. You need to call a plumber so he can dismantle and clean the "p-trap" piping under your sink and your problem will be solved. I hope that I have help you with this.

Is the sink on the lower floor? Perhaps the vent line through roof is plugged. Definitely a restriction somewhere at the same level as your sink. Other sinks have flow problems?

Trekkie7 is spot on - go and purchase a "snake" from HD for in basic terms $30 that attaches to a drill, detach the P capture (make certain that it is likewise sparkling once you do) and then run the snake interior the pipe. opportunities are high solid which you have previous forged iron drains and what occurs is rust happens contained in the pipe and food bits gets caught on the rust and grab different stuff despatched down the drain till its blocked up, often happening on the ninety degree elbow.
