Do you think my parents are being overprotective if they won't let me date until after i graduate?

Or get a job or drive (not even a permit)....

Yes, a bit.. but they only want the best for you.. you'll grow up soon enough... graduation only seems SO far away… enjoy what you have now ;)

Yes they are being over protective. I grew up with rules of not being able to have a "boyfriend" until after I graduated High School because they felt if I had one I would get pregnant. I wasn't allowed to get a job until right before I graduated because they wanted me to focus on my education.

I grew up telling myself things would change when I had my kids. I have 3 kids 11/9/6 and my oldest is my daughter. I have told myself that I will keep an open mind because I felt that I didn't get to experience certain things my friends were allowed to.

If you can try talking to your parents. I know from this end that I use to tell my father that it wasn't fair because my other friends were allowed certain things that I wasn't allowed. It fell on deaf ears.

That is a little over protective. You should tell them that once you graduate you wont be able to get a job unless you can drive, so get it done now.

Also, why don't you suggest a "group date"

Yes I think so! thats alittle overboard. I wasn't able to date till I was 16, which was reasonable. come up with a plan and bring it up to your parents attition. tell them why you'd like to date, maybe have the person comeover to your house for dinner. so your parents feel more comfortable the 1st few times. go on a group date.

Oh yea!!!! big time!!! And i thought my parents very overprotective.........

but that is a good thing. it just mean they love you. but i think that you need to take to them and get them to understand that you need to start living your life.

I did and it worked out fine..
