What are some good ideas for preschoolers to make gifts for their parents?

We don't have time to request the children bring a picture of themselves in- so nothing like that.

okay, get white paper plates, green paint and have the kids dip their hands in the paint and make prints around the paper plate in a manner so they look like 'handprint wreaths' in the middle put a ribbon bow, or paste on a letter that the kids said and the teacher wrote to their parents, or a red handprint. you can also make beaded ornaments, cards, or paprer ornaments that the kids decorated with glitterglue, markers, etc. there are so many possibilities and this is just a few

Ornaments. Anything with handprints are good. You can make angels with handprints as the wings or reindeer with handprints as the antlers. A wreath made out of handprints.

Also, if you have a day, get a disposable camera and take the pictures at school. Or ask around to borrow a digital, you can print the pics on regular paper. If you do that you can make a frame for it, cut it in a circle and glue it to one side of a cd, put wrapping paper behind it and write the year on the shiny side.

enchantedlearning.com has some cute ones too,

Good Luck!

Each child can make on a small Christmas paper plate a gingerbread house from an empty, clean 1/2 pt milk carton on which homemade vanilla frosting (not the canned stuff that will never solidify) is smeared. Put one square graham cracker on each side and a half square cracker on each half of the roof, then more frosting so you can add all sorts of candies (M&Ms, candy canes, starlite mints, licorice pieces, halved twizzlers, etc.) as decorations to the house. Of course, part of your job will be to keep the kids from eating the candy. (Hint: Make one yourself several days ahead of time, before you have the kids do theirs.)

Foot and hand reindeer. Paint their foot brown. Then paint their hands brown and use them for antler. Put googly eyes and a pom pom nose. Heel is the bottom of head.

Angels same idea. Feet color for angel gown. Hands white and glittery for angel wings. Heel is the head of angel.

You can also use construction paper instead to make it faster.

Paper plate wreaths cut out middle of plate. Glue green and red tissue paper or construction paper to the wreath. Then add ribbons.

I hope this helps.
Reminds me how happy I am I have a digital camera for projects involving pictures.

How about those little clothespin reindeer ornaments, I made one when I was in preschool. Also those little walnut shell ornaments, you try to cut the walnut shell perfectly in half, and take out the inside, then glue them back together with a string hanging out of the top, then you have the kids paint them or glitter them... whatever.
