Which fonts would you include in a basic, "working" set for a graphic design studio?

We have pared down a previous group of fonts (installed in our system by a former art director) from about 14,000 to about 7,000, but we've decided it would be easier to just "start from scratch" and install only those we'd use regularly.

Any suggestions? (Yes, he has been terminated, but we'd still like the opportunity to slap him around a little…)

I'd start with these font packages from Adobe.

You need a typeface expert or graphic designer who can go through your existing font library and organize by style and collection, so that you can easily load up common "themes" based on what a given project calls for.

Browse the Adobe Type library (http://www.adobe.com/type) by Theme and see how they break it down.
