It should point to the southeast sky at the right elevation & tilt. This is a 2 man job. One person at the TV checking signal strength while the other person moves the dish around. You need to communicate by cell phone, walkie-talkie, yelling, etc. so the person at the TV can tell the person at the dish when high signal strength is reached. In the receiver's menu there is an option to check for satellite strength.

Where you point the dish depends on what service you subscribe to and where you live....need to know those two things before your question can be answered.
