when was english voted as the global language?

There was never a vote. However, it had become a predominant language of international trade and now since the Internet (Ahem, thank you Al Gore!!!) it has really become an even more global language. It is something that just evolved that way, not a voted upon decision.

Just happened. Some language needed to be chosen to be the global language the Brits spread themselves around the world and then after WWII, it was the US that had the big economy that everyone wanted a part of.

Long time ago, at least is when it was decided to be the international language of business. It was the business people who decided this, partly because English speaking countries were typically integral to contracts and because they were the more advanced and progressive countries. I don't see why there would be a problem, it sure makes doing business much easier.
