On the menu bar: Tools/Options then select the view tab (if it doesn't appear by default) and unselect the All checkbox in the middle of the page on the right.

You just have formatting turned on. Look up on your toolbar and if you see this symbol, click on it ¶ .It will turn off the formatting. Then change your view to normal by clicking on View and select Normal. You may have print view on, which gives a little different aspect to the page.

You pressed the little button that shows the formatting of your text. You just press it again to get rid of that formatting. The periods you see are for spaces and other marks show paragraphs, etc.

it looks like pi π

You can find it on the other end of the formatting tool bar. (The number which shows font size and the buttons for bold, italic, etc. are on one end. The button like pie is on the other end.)

Are you serious? The bible is God's word or whatever and if you're saying "well don't just read that cause it won't make sense read the scholar's writing too" then you're saying the bible won't make sense and you shouldn't have to read any scholar's writing's to understand the bible. The bible is supposed to be the words to live by and if you need to further understand it with scholars writing's then you know in your heart the bible is pure crap.

Change your view to print layout and uncheck show formatting.
