When you get flowers from someone, what do you do with them?
like say they give them to you at your house before you're going out to dinner. should you take the time to put them in a vase right then and there, or like give them to your mom to do while you leave? you don't want to be rude

Since it only takes two minutes to arrange them, it would be more courteous to do it before you leave. You will need a clean, sharp knife, a clean vase of appropriate size and color, and about a quarter of an aspirin tablet. Let the water run lukewarm and separate the flowers by length if it is a mixed bouquet. Judge the depth of the water you will need and slice off any leaves that would fall below the waterline. Be careful not to peel any fiber from the stem.
Crush the quarter aspirin between two spoons and dissolve in the water. I find this helps retard the growth of algae and lets the flowers live an extra few days. Now with an eye to centering the taller stems, and putting the shorter ones around the side of the display, cleanly cut each end at a 45 degree angle. This opens clogged tubules in the stem to take in water (like you would a Christmas tree). For a full display, don't cut them all the same length. In no time, taking with your friend as you work, he will appreciate that you did not take them for granted, and you can give him a big smile when you put them on the table.
Change the water every 2-3 days, and you should have a nice arrangement for a week to 10 days.
The flowers were given to you to show you that person is intersted in you or cares about you. If you care for that person or are interested in dating that person most women would attempt to keep the flowers in a vase of water for at least few days. The purpose of this is the flowers are a symbol that somebody cares for you. Otherwise throw them out.
Unwrap them, trim the stems and put them in water straight away. Its like getting a gift and handing it to your mum to unwrap while you are out. You wouldn't like someone doing that to a gift you spent the time, effort and dollars on. They are given from the heart. Do as you would like others to do if you were the giver and not the receiver. Put as much delight into receiving them as they did giving them to you. Whatever it is you were on your way to can wait 2 mins you lucky thing.
