Celebrities have no business in the political arena. They have no business using their popularity to force their own beliefs on others. Most Celebrities are liberals and have little or no moral values. Look at their life style. It's pretty clear that's it's all about self gratification. Scum bags like George Cooney, Jane Fonda, Barbara Streisand, Danny Clover just to mention a few have spent their entire public life trying to undermined the government just because they don't agree with it. They are treasonous cowards.

It depends how much they've been into politics. If they have been deeply involved in politics, such as Reagan was, for example, it means they have as good a chance of being a good official as anybody else. Other examples include Jesse Ventura, who put in time as a mayor before running for governor; Sonny Bono, who had been into local politics in Palm Springs, etc.

But when you have dabblers jumping in without any involvement, and wanting to start on top, such as when Warren Beatty was talking about running for Senator, or the current entry of Al Franken, or even, IMO, Schwarzenegger, it makes a mockery of the system.

The first type listed above are more likely to be better officials than the second. The second group is more likely to seek ego-gratification and seems to have a very shallow understanding of how their actions affect the people, and thus, these people should be avoided.

I lived in MN for a bit while Jesse Ventura was Governor, and he wasn't too bad. We had a huge state refund, schools were in good shape, taxes were relatively low, he started a light rail system, social programs were well funded and the state economy was good. He had a hard time with the media because he said some silly things, like religion is a crutch for the weak, and the streets of St. Paul were designed by drunken Irishmen. I'm Irish, and I thought it was pretty funny, and probably true. Now there is a republican Governor, Pawlenty, and property tax is through the roof, schools have been shut down and consolidated, state fees are really high, state tax refunds are much smaller and there have been significant cuts to Minnesota Care. Much better under Ventura.

I think Arnold Schwarzenegger gained personality in Government, I think it was a little rocky at first. Then he some adjustments and fit a little better in the seat. He is working on some change in California, and I hope it goes well. I hope he takes care of the people both rich and poor as they all admire him and many people look up to him. Yes, the people love him so I hope he keep that in mind as he faces tough decisions. There are also disasters that many states have had to contend with recently, so it is not just a fun position he is in at this time.

Alan Paige former Vikings NFL football player, made a smooth transition into government, as well as Clint Eastwood.

America loves hero's and hopefully our hero's that get into Government will continue to love us.

As funny as it may sound and I know he probably doesn't want the job, I could see David Letterman as President, he is an excellent spokesperson and would be excellent in delivering the news to the people.

I know it would truely inspire US Troops if "Rocky" lead them into battle a couple of times.

So, yes people love and respect our celebrities/heros

Celebrities are actors. They act a part. Most were starving slobs who want their break. The only thing they have is their ability to speak in public. So can a cardboard cutout and a recorder.
