I live in a democratic country. However, thoughts have been confusing my mind why violence occurs in the society where I live. I don't understand why media men are slain in our country, why are witnesses killed when testifying a crime against a powerful individual, and why corruption exists. Does democracy brings this problems

I too live in a democratic country, and experiencing the same situations like you....you may be in a democratic, dictatorship any type of government,it does not affirm you a complete peacefulness or whatever...there is violence everywhere and that's a fact.i think media men are slain in your country (maybe by the government) because these people want to cover up something, somethings that they don't want the people to know...Same reasons with the witnesses...the painful thing is,these people are killed and no judgement is done, because of the powerful people behind that event....corruption exist because there are greedy people in the ruling government...
There are dangers to democracy. The genius of the American constitution was that it established a limited democracy. In an unlimited democracy, anyone who can get 51% of the people on his side can do whatever he wants to the other 49%. They often have problems with Socialists, Fascists (Hitler was elected once), Democrats, Republicans, and other undesirable non-Libertarian types, who just won't leave people alone.
Sadly, the Constitution was slowly but surely whittled away, which lead to the establishment of the Federal Reserve in 1915. The Federal Reserve, in turn, caused the Great Depression. But instead of recognizing that the Depression was caused by government, they blamed businessmen, and implemented a huge power grab, called the New Deal. This was a set of unconstitutional economic controls which, although we are still a wealthy country, created more misery in my part of the world then the Depression ever could have.
So yes, there are dangers in democracy. If you have a constitution where you live, read it. Because you never know what you have until it's gone.
Democracy and freedom are terms attempting to describe natural order. They are not merely political constructs.
This country is victimized because of unbridled competition and fear of poverty. Poverty can only exist when nature has been exploited beyond usefulness by real estate barons and corporations paving over the tillable soil and stealing water rights. I'm oversimplifying for the sake of brevity.
There are many factors, but what is common is unnatural fears created by wealthy exploiters. That's what makes us only feel powerful with a keyboard or steering wheel in our hands.
Tyrants will learn their lesson when the people learn to get off their butts and restore the natural order. Or nature does it for us, the hard way.
Either way, everything changes, this too shall pass.
Democracy is not present when the laws are not being followed. There is dictatorship because media are no longer allowed to expose irregularities and witnesses against crimes are being killed.
Democracy is not the problem, capitalism is. Capitalism teaches everyone from birth to think only of themself. Capitalism breeds greed and teaches us to judge those that work at the corner store with no college degree.... it has classes of ppl.
