How many of you live in a city that has...?

a mass transit system? Could you continue to live as you do without a car? (NYC comes to mind)

I live in NYC and you really do not need a car to get around here. I do not drive and my parents didn't either. As a matter of fact if you are going into Manhattan(the part of the City people know about) then it is recommended that you leave the car and take mass transit because driving in the city( as we call Manhattan) can be very difficult and frustrating as traffic is almost always bad and the streets are always crowded .

I lived in New York for over 20 years without a car. Since then I have lived in Hawaii and Virginia. You'll never realize how much not having a car hurts you until you move out of a city with mass transit.

I don't, but I have.
I grew up in Jax, Florida, where in order to get *anywhere* you must drive a car. But last year I moved to England, where owning a car is almost a set back because the petrol is so expensive. The transition was amazingly easy. When I moved back to the states I actually missed using the busses, trains, and underground.

My city doesn't have a mass transit system so I need my car.
