How do you make fish tacos?

Today being Friday, I can't eat meat. I want something other than a salad, pancakes, or pasta, and fish tacos are something I haven't tried before. Anyone else like them and how do you make them?

I take whole catfish filets
I fry them with seasoned fish fry
in a cast iron pan
set them on paper and let em drain
get out a tortilla shell soft and lay a piece of the fish on it and slather on some salsa and roll it up and eat it
I have some homeade coleslaw with it
grind up some cabbage a bell pepper and some green onions and add some sweet relish and mayo then put that on the tortilla with the fish
lemon wedge for garnish

Fish Taco, Baja-Style

The batter used to coat the fish varied with the cook but the wok-shaped disc seemed to be the pan of choice for frying the fish. This very easy recipe is the one that Leonelly used for fish that was crisp and tasty, with the flavor of the fish not being overpowered by the coating. Some cooks swear that you must use shark fillets, but any firm white fish works well.

1 large lime
4 white fish fillets, cut in strips about 1-inch wide
2 eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
Salt
Vegetable oil for frying
8 corn tortillas

Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice over fish. Allow the fish marinate while preparing the batter.
To make the batter, break the eggs in a bowl and whisk. While mixing with a fork, gradually add only enough flour to form a thin batter. Season with the salt.
Pour the oil to depth of 1 to 2-inches, depending on the thickness of the fish, in a heavy skillet or wok. Heat the oil over medium-high heat to a temperature of 365 degrees.
Dip the fish in the batter and let the excess drip off. Carefully slide the fish in the oil and fry until the fish is done, about 3 minutes and the batter is golden brown, turning once. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Wrap the tortillas in a towel and microwave on high for 30 seconds.
Place the fish in the tortillas and serve. Allow guests to create their own combinations of the following toppings.
Yield: 4 servings

no problem..used to live in Baja so they are something I used to make all the time.. i like tilapia as the fish. its nice and meaty, but still lite. use a few corn tortillas, a little shredded red cabbage, canned mandarin oranges, avacado, a little mayonnaise mixed with chopped chipotle peppers(they come in a can in the ethnic food isle, its a smoked jalapeno), and some cilantro. season the fish really good with salt and pepper and sear it in some olive oil...break it into small pieces and layer your taco with the ingredients. i like to put the sauce on the bottom and top....and top it with a little cilabtro leaf and some fresh squeezed lime juice

I'm no expert..2007-03-16T22:19:12Z

For a quick and easy fish taco, you can take cooked frozen fish sticks or patties and break them up as your taco meat. Pico de gallo is a great addition with some fresh cracked pepper.
