Stopping the doping of kids with psych drugs.?
Are there any groups or organizations fighting to stop the use of psych meds with kids? I want to get on board and stop the practice of dopping kids with ritalin and other crap drugs.

That is a MOST excellent idea, and I applaud you! We are simply destroying our kids and their futures with these drugs.
I don't know of any organizations to refer, but I sure hope you either find some, or start one. Good Luck!

One main problem with children this day and time is that they have TOO many distractions and not enough creativity. I am 43. About three years ago I was diagnosed with ADD. For so many years I had anxiety and panic attacks. I could not focus or get anything done. I couldn't "go to sleep" because my mind was racing so horribly. I suffered this for MANY years... My doctor suggested Adderal but I was afraid it would make my anxiety and panic attacks worse. It was totally opposite. I had taken anti-depressants most of my life. Now that I am taking Adderal I no longer need anti-depressants, I don't have anxiety or panic attacks. I feel as if someone took the remote control away that controlled my brain!...Unfortunately this day and time when parents aren't legally authorized to discipline thier children and they get "out of hand" the first thing done is to say ADHD/ADD and they put them on these drugs. Very sad... some actually need it. My 2 sons are BIG time ADHD/ADD, suffer from post traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, etc... Being ADD can be hereditary, but yes...it seems that docs too quickly put kids on these meds that do not need to be put on them. I believe that a general practitioner / family practice physician should only be able to prescribe these type meds ONLY with a psychologist / psychiatrist professional diagnosis. Otherwise, Adderal has been almost miraculous for me...I cannot down your question at all but I will say that before it is prescribed for a child it DEFINITELY should have a diagnosis from a professional in this field. As far as groups?...It would have to be a responsible parent and doctor...then again?..The government is basically taking control of this younger generation and this generation does not have the respect or responsibilities that I was raised on but the way the government is?...it is no wonder our children are the way they are...the government and laws are totally outrageous. It feels as if this has become a communist nation...sad....

I believe your passion and ambition is slightly misguided.
I will 100% agree with you that TOO MANY children are medicated for AHDH symptoms. However there ARE children who suffer from ADHD and benefit greatly from medication therapies.
Why don't you focus your passion on proper testing and diagnosis? I believe that is where the mental health system has failed. Medications can do wonders, however not everyone needs them. So wouldn't it be even more wise to put more emphasis on determining a proper diagnosis? This way the children who DO need or can benefit greatly from these medications are able to. And the children who don't are not "drugged" and other interventions can be used (I can think of a good one..better parenting!).
Please don't be ignorant to the fact that this is a true disorder. Many comments have suggested that ADHD did not exist "when I was growing up". The truth is, is that it did, however was not recognized, identified nor was treatment available. Many mental health disorders have "evolved" to an identifiable and treatable condition, that were not in past decades...ADHD is not an exception. However, this is no excuse for assuming that every misbehaved and active child is suffering from ADHD...again this is why proper diagnosis is so important.

I think it would be a wonderful idea too. I would jump in with both feet. People should stop medicating their children to behave. I don't want my kids taking a lot of tylenol or any other drug. I think the less the better. I DO however, believe that there are extreme cases that need medication. But not every child, not the ones with mild symptoms.

In Texas there is an Organization trying to stop people from drugging their children. I so agree with you. Back when I was a kid, we called ADHD "normal childlike activity".
Who could focus on math when you wanted to play outside? Why do we expect our children to behave like adults?
Hope you can find more organizations, this is a good idea.
