A whole lot of people DON'T know this. Tell EVERYONE you know with dogs. I hate how the media is reporting this kind of nonchalantly when many people, including me, consider their pets closer than most of their human family members.

The FDA has yet to put it on their list, but the Alpo site has all the details.

My baby, an 11 year old border collie/golden retriever mix, is at the vet now. She is now the poster child for this contamination stuff b/c she has absolutely normal blood work from both 5 and 9 months ago and now she's in the beginning signs of kidney failure. It's not to the irreversable stage yet, but we have already paid over $1,000 in emergency vet bills. They say we caught it just in time. She had got sick Friday night and we found out about the recall Saturday. Our animals are our babies and it is hard to know that you basically poisoned your own pet.

Wow, I did not know that. I just read in our local paper that the Science Diet brand of canned wet dog food has also been recalled. I will have to look at purina.com to see what other foods have been recalled because I have a Jack Russell Terrier and a cat and I don't want them to eat contaminated food. Thanks for the info.

Thanx for posting.
I buy only the chophouse originals-ribeye flavor.I mix 1/4 of the can with our 2 dogs dry food in the evenings as a treat.
I checked tho and they came from the same plant as the food that's been recalled. They're all going in the trash now just to be on the safe side since they also have the same code dates in case there's any cross contamination.

I heard but didn't know what brand. They are ls checking dry food as well as human food for the contamination. So allot more lives are at risk from the poor management of that crop we bought from them. At least they are taking responsibility and paying for any damages and losses pet owners have received from the products being recalled.

my mother is switching dry brands of food since Ol Roy wet has the contamination and they are now saying it may be in dry food as well
